Incredibly strong early season form from the rejigged Mens
2, beating a strong and experienced Wisewood team 5-4 that had just beaten
their own Wisewood 3 club mates the week before.
Steve and Sam skydived into the team from the heady heights
of Division 1 last season, and Snowden made his first ever league start in
Rob’s absence, scoring a crucial rubber in the second round of rubbers to give
us a 4-2 lead, allowing Steve and Rich to finish the job, playing their second
pair out of sequence. Hopefully this new team has a strong enough spine to
bounce back to the 3rd division at the first attempt prior to making
a move for division 2.
The match reports this year for the 2nd team will
take the form of some fun awards which will be voted on before the end of
season awards night to see who gets the prizes!
The “I wish I hadn’t
said or done that” award – Dave Henry. For promising to retire if Sam and
himself failed to win 3 out of 3 in division 4. Well, it was lovely knowing you
Dave!
The “Pair of the
Match” award – mine are always statistical, so Sam and Dave narrowly get
this for conceding 5 less points than Rich and Steve. Well done guys, first
step to the POTY award!
