Ladies v Beaverhill (A) - 17/1/14

An away trip to Beaverhill was the order of proceedings for Ranmoor Ladies last Friday.  With Cat and Cindy running a few minutes late due to 'misfiring gates' it was down to Karen / Jane and Helen / Lesley to get the matches underway.

Ladies (A) at Beaverhill - think we might do better in the Gymnastics...but who is that little guy top left?
It all started well with Karen and Jane winning the first end in a tight 25-23 score line and Helen and Lesley going to 19.  But despite support from Coach Dave H, we just couldn't get over the line.  A disappointing start as we went down 2-0.  Next up Cat and Cindy who are proving to be a formidable pair.  And yet again they proved so with a convincing win to 17 and 12.  Well done to them.

With a bit of hope we entered the next set of games, but by this time had been reduced to one court.  Yet again Karen and Jane took it to three ends by winning the first one but succumbing in the 2nd and 3rd.  Real tough luck and they definitely deserved to notch a point up for digging in.  Lesley and Helen were finding it difficult and couldn't get past 15 and 16 in their game.  Cat and Cindy continued to make it tough with a 24-22 and 21-18 score line but couldn't secure a win.  Hard luck.

With the match out of sight we were playing only for goal difference.  But we struggled with Karen/ Jane and Lesley/Helen feeling the pressure of a good opposition and only Cat and Cindy able to take an end off the final pair before finally being beaten.

So a tough night and final 8-1 score line.  Well played to Cat and Cindy who have a great understanding of each others game and to Jane and Karen for making it tough.  Helen and I hope to redeem ourselves after both admitting to getting frustrated.  We must remember that this is Division 1 and it will not be easy, but we are gaining valuable experience and we will make this count as we endeavour to stay in the division.  Thank you to everyone for playing.
