Men’s
1 returned to Fir Vale school looking to make PMC 2 their first victims
of the season. With the opposition having one pair who we had each
played against us for their 1st team we knew they would be a difficult pair to
beat but the other 2 pairs were more to our standard and we felt confident of at least putting up a fight.
With
Dave H recovering from his operation, although turning out to support
and offer advice from the sidelines, it was left to Deepak to partner
Rich W for the night. The rest of our team were the usual suspects and
once again we started
with all 3 courts for the first and second round of games.
The match seemed to rest on
performances against pairs 2 & 3 as the first pair swept us all
aside with relative ease, Sam/Mark & Dave W/Andy managed equal
points but none of our guys could take an end.

In
the second round Sam/Mark took on the second pair and comfortably
defeated them to 12 & 8. Rich/Deepak were having to work harder and
the third pair but managed to get through to victory.
In
the final round of games Sam/Mark defeated the third pair with relative
comfort once again. Unfortunately Dave W/Andy could not sneak home
against the second pair as they lost out to 18 in both ends.
A
narrow 5-4 defeat gives us hope of avenging the result at our own
place. Well done to Deepak for securing 2 points alongside Rich in
their first match as a pairing.
