A return to action after the christmas break saw Mens 1 pay a visit to
neighbours Oakbrook 1, who had already been beaten at home earlier in
the season. The usual team assembled to play a team showing a couple of
changes from our first meeting. The different conditions to our home
court saw the first 2 pairs struggle for rhythm. Both pairs went down
in straight ends leaving an early deficit to try and overturn.
Third
pair Dave & Andy at least managed to take their game to 3 ends
before losing 21-19 in the decider. This was an unusual position for
the side being 3-0 down, Rich & Dave managed to get a win on the
board against the 2nd pair but again both Dave/Andy and Sam/Ravi
couldn't get either of their games into 3 ends. With the game gone at
5-1 it just left pride to play for in the last round of games.
Of
the last round of games only one made the full distance. Rich &
Dave had a win conceded to them by the opposition whilst Sam had to pull
out of the last match with injury. Dave & Andy at least managed to
take their game to 3 ends once again before losing out 21-15. So a
first defeat of the season for Mens 1 of 7-2 means we're still top of
the table but need to bounce back in our next match away to Jaguar 1.
