Mens 1 v's Nomads (H) - 5/11/12

Men's 1 had their fourth consecutive Monday night match with a visit from Nomads, one of the teams who came down from division 1 last season so expected to be a tough proposition.  The team was once again at full strength and looking to continue the excellent start to the season.

Erm...dive!  Skydiver Ravi, Superman Dave W and the rest of the Mens 1 team (Sam, Dave, Andy, Rich) show what Nomads took out of them.
Rich & Dave H started the night off with a bang as they breezed past the pair playing as number 1 in winning 4 & 11.  Sam & Ravi were finding it harder going against a decent 2nd pair who had a two very different styles of play, having won the 1st end our boys narrowly lost out in the 2nd before storming back to win the 3rd end to 16.  While that was finishing off Dave W & Andy were taking on the 3rd pair & also going to 3 ends where they lost to 16 in the 3rd making too many errors on key points against probably the strongest pair.

Sam & Ravi next took on the 1st pair who seemed to have warmed a little to the task at hand & again forced the lads into a deciding end, again coming out the winners to 16.  Andy & Dave were again contriving to lose in 3 ends, this time against the 2nd pair despite having won the 1st end to 11.  Rich & Dave managed to outfox the strong pair in their 2nd game winning 19 & 6 before stepping back on court to defeat the 2nd pair 15 & 13 to complete another 3-0 match for our number 1 pair.

Dave & Andy needed a win against the 1st pair to salvage something from their night & managed to prevail having fought back from 16-20 down to win the 1st end 22-20 the 2nd proved a much easier affair as the games finally came together to win 21-5.  With the match secure Sam & Ravi wanted to end the night on a successful note but a determined 3rd pair proved too wily for them as they lost out 12 & 15.

All together another successful nights work with another 6-3 win making it 4 wins from 4 in a strong start to the season.  Dave H decided that some diving practice was required from the team post match although Ravi seemed to get mixed up & think skydiving was the way to go while Sam & Andy didn't hear the instructions so reverted back to their male modelling days with some not so subtle poses.  Roll on Grenhilheg in a few weeks time, although their might be a few sore heads for that one coming straight after the Newcastle weekend for Dave's stag party!
